"For me, participating in the Barents Games wasn't just about competition; it was about connecting with new people," says Strøm. "Unlike the familiar environment of the Norwegian Cup where I usually compete alongside my sister and interact with the same individuals, the Barents Games introduced me to a diverse group of athletes. Sharing a room with fellow cross-country skiers I hadn't met before and engaging with peers from different countries and sporting backgrounds was incredibly rewarding."

Strøm emphasizes the value of cultural exchange and camaraderie fostered by the Barents Games. "Interacting with athletes from other disciplines and Barents countries allowed me to gain insight into their traditions, cultures, and interests, while also discovering common ground through our shared love for sports," she adds.

As a participant in YLIB, Strøm highlights the program's role in nurturing young leaders and promoting collaboration within the sports community. "YLIB provides an invaluable opportunity to develop event management skills and collaborate with fellow passionate athletes," she explains. "Having a voice in decision-making processes alongside experienced organizers allows us to shape events in ways that resonate with participants."

For aspiring YLIB members, Strøm offers insight into what they can expect. "Joining YLIB means being part of a dynamic group where creativity is encouraged," she notes. "Contributing ideas and working together towards a common goal offers a platform for personal and collective growth, empowering young individuals to organize impactful events at a young age."
