Ice hockey is a new sport in Barents Sports but there is already good contact between the countries. The future looks promising and there are several initiatives underway to encourage a growing exchange between the countries. During the Barents Winter Games in Tromsø, boys aged 15 competed in ice hockey. Ice hockey is relatively new in Norway and in true Barents spirit they are therefore allowed to enter slightly older competitors. The sport is working hard to establish some girls’ teams as well in the four countries.
